Funding proposals for nine Midwest community foundations resulting in $30 million in grants

Client: Community Alliances to Promote Education and nine Indiana community foundations, Indianapolis, Indiana

 

Services: Co-wrote an implementation proposal for nine community foundations. The work resulted in over $30 million in grant awards to five community foundations to implement education reform programs. Additionally, we gathered community input and research best practices on innovative, yet practical ways to improve educational attainment.

Fund development and capacity building assistance for nationally replicated organic food and nutrition organization

Client: Ceres Community Project, Sebastopol, California

 

Services: Completed two program applications for Sonoma County Upstream Investments Portfolio of Model Upstream Programs, resulting in Tier 3 programs. Identified regional/national foundations, corporate giving, and government funding opportunities and best way to present Ceres' funding needs to each funding opportunity. Developed and cultivated strategies for major donor prospects.

Services: Developed and implemented strategies for identifying prospective major donors and communicating with donors; developed documentation to present to prospective donors; coach staff, board and other volunteers on ways to communicate effectively with donors; advised staff on tracking donor data; identified prospective funding sources and developed associated documentation about funding sources; coached and led the way on developing/writing grant proposals; and developing supplement materials to include in grant proposals.

Developed federal funding requests for state workforce development board

Client: Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Indianapolis, Indiana

 

Services: Wrote grant applications for federal funding, in addition to helping to identify best practices in Workforce Investment Board (WIB) leadership; analyzed WIB performance; developed strategies for assisting WIBs to become more involved in regional economic development; provided guidance to one-stop offices on strategies for improved service; planned fee-for-service activities; and developed corrective active plans for WIB's that fail to meet performance standards. We also identified ways to improve Workforce Investment Act Youth Performance results.

Client: La Luz Center, Sonoma, California

 

Services: We facilitate meeting to engage stakeholders in identifying and developing organizations goals, plan projects, and gaps between current and needed resources; develop annual priority projects documentation; identify prospective foundation and government agency partners based on priority projects; prepare applications to foundations and government agencies; advise Executive Director prior to meetings with prospective funders; and prepared documents to support La Luz Center's affiliation with Sonoma County Upstream Investments policies, which resulted in Tier 1 status.
